Tips For Regular Maintenance Check For Your Dirt Bike

Dirt bikes are the new trend among youth and kids. Selecting a dirt bike can be a difficult task to do as you have to check for the correct size, features, and pricing of it. You can also go for bike customization for your kid’s dirt bike to make them according to their size and wants. These bikes are mainly used for performing stunts and tricks while riding. Maintenance of your dirt bike is also very important as it can increase their lifetime and save you from the extra future expenses. Here’s an amazing guideline about maintaining your dirt bike regularly

  • Wash it after every use – after every ride, it is recommended to wash your dirt bike. Riders ride these dirt bikes on the ground full of mud and dirt as they are basically for these types of riding styles. The dirt and debris collected on your bike parts can harm them and damage the engine slowly. If you don’t wash your bike regularly, the dirt might damage the air filters and can slower the efficiency of its engine. You can wash them with water pressure but be careful with the places where water can damage and rust the bike parts. Use the air sealers on the parts which should be covered from the water and then go for proper cleaning.
  • Inspect the chains– chains are an important part of the dirt bikes. So, regular checking of the chain makes your bike run smoothly. Clear the chain with the nylon brush if any dirt is present on it. Check for the tightness of the chain as too tight chain can break while riding and cause accidents. Similarly, a too loose chain can also reduce the lifespan of your bike by damaging the sprocket. Use the three-finger rule to inspect the chain. If your three fingers easily slide in your bike’s chain without putting too much strain or being too lose, it is perfect.
  • Tighten bolts – if you are regularly riding your dirt bike, there are high chances that your bike’s bolts might get loose due to the high vibrations and stunts. Checking for the tightness of the bolts before every ride is essential to ensure a safe ride.
  • Change motor oil – it is recommended to change your motor oil after every ride as this will increase your engine’s lifespan. You should ask your manufacturer about the changing period of the engine oil as they know it better for their bike. Changing the engine oil regularly will make it run smoothly without causing any friction. If there is friction generated in the functioning part, it makes the performance of the bike slow and damages the internal components gradually.
  • Air filters – air filters should also be checked regularly. Any dirt or debris present in the air filters for a longer time can harm them and make them worthless. You should also check for the moisture present in your bike’s air filters. The moisture can corrode your filters and you might need replacement which will cause you extra expenses.
